There can be a lot of uncertainty with weddings planned during hurricane season (June 1—Nov. 30). Most years, we get lucky in the Turks & Caicos. We get the occasional tropical storm, and in the event of less-than-stellar weather, we do what we can and make it work. Often that means moving an outdoor wedding indoors. You just have to go with the flow.
This past September, however, was an eventful one as far as hurricanes go as we were hit by the powerful Hurricane Irma, followed by Hurricane Maria a week later. Brittany and Marcus were scheduled to be married at Beaches Resort on Sept. 30, but after the two hurricanes, Beaches closed in order to deal with repairs. Many other resorts did the same. Brittany and Marcus considered all options, from changing destinations to postponing. But despite everything, it turned out this wedding was meant to be—Seven Stars Resort opened their doors to the couple, and the wedding was back on schedule.
Seven Stars contacted us to help this very patient and determined couple plan their wedding at the new venue with only a few days’ notice. Without hesitation, we said yes. We knew this was the perfect opportunity to let the world know that the Turks & Caicos was recovering quickly and back in business.
With Teresa in Canada, our wedding planner extraordinaire worked closely with the team on the ground, the resort and all the vendors to plan the wedding remotely, sending step-by-step instructions to ensure Marcus and Brittany’s wedding was perfect.
As you can see from the photos, the day could not have gone better. A big thank you goes to the entire Tropical DMC team, especially Marco for all he did with the set-up. And thank you to Seven Stars Resort, Flower by EA, Pastor Padmore and DJ Dayoh and pulling it all together to help Brittany and Marcus have the most fabulous wedding day. Well done, everyone!
