While shopping for a graduation ring in Atlanta, Joy Mabe never expected that her future husband would not only be the man that sold her that ring, but would be the same man to put a wedding ring on her finger six years later.
Tony Guven had seen many people come and go while shopping in his family owned jewellery business in Atlanta. He was surprised to see such a beautiful girl right there in his shop. When Joy’s mother asked if they were hiring, and although they really were not, he immediately decided this was the opportunity he needed to get to know her better. Once Joy began working at the store, they instantly became friends and he finally gathered the courage to ask her out. Five years later in St. Croix he made it official by proposing to her.
Tony and Joy always knew that they loved the Caribbean and that a destination wedding would be amazing. Tony being Turkish knew that a large Turkish wedding was what his family would want, but both families agreed that a small private wedding would be fine with them, providing a larger celebration followed.
The couple loves to travel, and once discovering Turks and Caicos, they both knew that this would be the ideal place to hold their dream wedding. The Pinterest planning began and Tony immediately suggested they hire a wedding planner to help with the details, especially since the decision came just one and a half months before the decided wedding day.
Upon researching wedding planners in the Turks and Caicos, they found that Tropical Destination Management was the best fit for what they were looking for. Joy had a lot of décor and design ideas already and wanted to add a Turkish element to the entire wedding. She wanted to have some traditions added, as well as special elegant touches that would make this the romantic wedding they both had envisioned.
After the initial meeting with Teresa at Tropical Destination Management, they knew they had the right planner. I had so many ideas and resources, as well as special ways to create their vision that they immediately felt comfortable. After a quick stop at a Turkish restaurant to finalize the details, the wedding was well underway.
August 9th was a magical day for Tony, Joy and their families. The wedding was held at Seven Stars resort and guests and owners alike say it was the most beautiful wedding they have seen on the island. They started with a fabric covered gazebo arch filled with romantic blooming flowers as well as the sparkle of a crystal chandelier. Large gold urns decorated the aisle way with cascading roses in abundance. You could smell the flowers as soon as you walked down the aisle as if you were stepping into a botanical garden.
The reception was set within a wooden gazebo covered in flowing fabric and chandeliers, sparkling tablecloths, gold cutlery and crystal as well as a plethora of roses and orchids that cascaded down the centre of the table. Live music, a coconut bar, lounge set on the beach with a bonfire, fireworks, and a fire dancer, this couple had every element possible to create their dream wedding.
The couple mentions that:
“In all honesty, looking back at our incredible wedding the one thing Tony and I always talk about is how we could have never done any of this without Teresa! There is just no way we could have done it. Our wedding was far better than anything Tony, I, or our family could have ever dreamed of. Teresa went above and beyond every single one of our expectations and was so incredible to work with every step of the way! Everything was so organized down to the minute details, and anything Tony and I wanted she always found a way to make it work better than we could have imagined. We loved Teresa so much, that we want her to plan our large Turkish wedding celebration in Atlanta! I could never recommend her enough, and we tell everyone back home about how extraordinary Teresa and her talents are!”
